The Little Free Pantry

& the wave of informal food sharing across the province

I came across my first Little Free Pantry while going for a walk this winter on Southside Road. I immediately loved this idea. I was familiar with the Little Free Libraries and because I was aware of food insecurity in Canada, 1 in 8 households going food insecure between 2017-18 Household Food Insecurity in Canada - PROOF (utoronto.ca), I thought it was a beautiful and creative community response to a dire issue that has only been getting worse since the pandemic.
